Lovely

Lovely Mutine, a gentle 1.75m trotter mare, raced professionally before retiring to a loving home. After her devoted owner’s passing in 2023, she joined our shelter per his final wish. Rescued from a Normandy estate, she now resides in our specialized equine facility. Despite her size, Lovely’s tender nature and sweet tooth make her a joy to care for. She avoids conflicts, preferring calm pasture time. Our team provides daily care to ensure her comfort in her twilight years, honoring her legacy of loyalty and resilience as she navigates health challenges with quiet dignity.

Lovely is exceptionally sociable, bonding seamlessly with horses, ponies, donkeys, and even farm animals without aggression. However, her Cushing’s disease severely impacts mobility, making transport in trailers extremely stressful and risky due to balance issues. Relocation must occur solely by foot within a limited radius to minimize distress. Her neurological condition requires a patient, experienced caretaker who can provide stall-side veterinary care, as clinic visits are nearly impossible. Finding a suitable home that meets these strict requirements remains a significant challenge for her safety and well-being.

Medical history

Lovely Mutine requires daily monitoring for Cushing’s disease—a degenerative neurological condition similar to Parkinson’s in humans—causing unsteady hindquarter movement and chronic laminitis requiring frequent farrier care. She also suffers recurrent hoof abscesses due to heightened sensitivity and severe dental deterioration, necessitating a soft-food diet of soaked mash, hay, and grass. Constant management of these intertwined conditions is critical to maintaining her nutrition, mobility, and comfort as she ages.
