Story
Lovely Mutine is a tall trotting mare, impressive for her size – about 1.75 meters – but with an infinitely gentle heart. Throughout her life, she ran on tracks, then had the chance to be bought back by a man who loved her deeply. Together, they shared many years of riding and companionship. Upon her passing, faithful to her last wish, Lovely joined our association to spend her final days surrounded by care and affection. She is a discreet mare, sometimes a bit stubborn, but always very kind. She is touching with her sensitivity and gentleness, a true little granny who never seeks conflicts. Very bony and large in size, Lovely is also a great gourmand: she eats a lot and with appetite, which often makes us smile. Suffering from Cushing's disease, she requires special attention and regular care to keep her healthy. Lovely embodies loyalty and resilience, and we do everything possible to ensure her last years are filled with comfort, tenderness, and respect, reflecting the beautiful story she has lived.
Behavior
Lovely Mutine is a mare with a gentle and sociable character. She gets along perfectly with her peers, whether they are horses, ponies, donkeys, but also with dogs, cats, and even farm animals, never showing any aggression or adaptation issues. However, her Cushing's disease, which affects her neurological system, makes all movement complex and very exhausting for her. Loading into a truck or van causes her significant stress and poses a risk to her balance and safety. Therefore, trips to a veterinary clinic or a shelter are extremely difficult, if not impossible. For this reason, adoption or placement in a foster family can only occur within a limited perimeter, allowing only foot travel. Finding a suitable home for her needs is thus a real challenge, as it is crucial to preserve her well-being and minimize her sources of stress.
Medical status
Lovely Mutine has several health issues that require daily vigilance. Suffering from Cushing's disease, a degenerative condition similar in function to Parkinson's disease in humans, she experiences a deregulation of her nervous system. This disease causes an uncertain gait, especially in her hindquarters, which struggles to follow movement. Cushing's also affects her feet: Lovely is prone to chronic laminitis that requires very regular farrier care to maintain her comfort. Her increased sensitivity also leads to frequent abscesses, requiring recurrent interventions and care. Additionally, Lovely has almost lost all her teeth, preventing her from chewing properly. She must therefore receive a special soup as a supplement to hay and grass to ensure adequate nutrition and maintain her health. All these pathologies require attentive and constant monitoring to ensure her well-being daily.
