About
Story
Rica was born with her brothers and sisters in an old man's garden. However, he fell ill, and his son came once a week to check on the dogs. The dogs living in the yard were autonomous, with no possibility of searching for food elsewhere; neighbors occasionally threw food over the barrier. The neighbors asked us to sterilize the mother of the dogs, and we took over Rica, her two sisters, and other 2-month-old puppies from a recent litter. Rica spent her first time in a group of dogs on this farm, with little human contact, until she came with us.
Behavior
Size: 37 cm. Weight: 9 kg. Rica is a young, gentle, and sensitive female dog, but shy and unsure of herself when it comes to new people or environments. Regarding familiar people, she greets them amicably, with a wagging tail. She enjoys companionship and attention. She prefers proximity but at her own pace. If given space and not pushed, she will seek contact on her own. She responds particularly well to friendly voices, calm movements, and, of course, small treats. She gets along very well with other dogs. She is strongly oriented towards them and visibly benefits from the security her species provides. Initially, large dogs may intimidate her, but once she realizes they are not a threat, she quickly becomes friends with them. An ideal home for Rica would be with an existing, calm, and secure dog, as she can orient herself and learn from it. She has shown kindness and friendliness towards the cats she has met. Rica is rather calm and not very active but loves to run in the yard with other dogs from her foster family occasionally. She also enjoys toys and chewing bones. Rica already knows the ropes of living in a house, but walks remain a challenge for her: loud noises, busy streets, or strangers make her anxious and can trigger escape reactions. In a calm environment, alongside familiar people or dogs, she relaxes more and walks properly on a leash. Her potential is to gain more confidence in the world step by step with patience and loving leadership. Rica is a touching little female dog with no trace of aggression, whether with children or her peers. It is clear she wants to do well and approach us, but she is anxious about her past life. A couple, a single person, or a calm family in the countryside, with another dog, would be ideal for her.
