Maxton was found after living on the street, where he experienced very difficult living conditions. During his wandering, he was attacked by other dogs and still bears the marks of this past. He arrived with many serious wounds and had to undergo numerous stitches at different parts of his body. Today, he is safe in a foster family, where he continues his convalescence and gradually regains confidence in the future. Despite everything he has been through, he remains an incredibly gentle dog. However, his foster family will not be able to keep him for more than a month due to logistical reasons. Maxton is actively threatened with having to return to the street after his recovery.
Behavior
Maxton is an extremely calm, gentle, and deeply kind dog. He has never shown any aggression towards humans and greets each person with a wagging tail. Very close to humans, he appreciates their presence without being intrusive. Even at the veterinarian, Maxton behaves exemplarily. His wound care has always been carried out without difficulty, and he is comfortable being handled, carried, or moved. Grooming is also a moment he enjoys. With other dogs, he is sociable when in a relaxed environment. Free in a garden, he interacts very well with his peers and is even starting to enjoy playing again as he regains strength. He gets along particularly well with younger or smaller male dogs. A test with larger dogs can be performed if necessary. Although interactions with other dogs are currently very good, it is important to remember that Maxton was attacked almost to death by another dog, so introductions should always be done with respect and gentleness. A family that continues this work with kindness will help him gain even more serenity. Currently, he lives between the garden and the house, and when his foster family is away, he stays in an outdoor kennel with the other dogs of the house. Learning to be alone in a home will therefore be necessary, but based on his current behavior, Maxton proves to be a particularly easy companion to live with. He is calm, does not destroy anything, and almost never barks in his current environment. His energy level is currently low as he is still recovering, but he seems to have a quite calm temperament. He enjoys quiet walks, walks properly on a leash, and travels very well by car. However, leash walking has been little practiced because his foster family lacks time and resources due to the number of dogs they currently care for. He is not a dog that requires intense physical activity; he prefers to enjoy a peaceful daily life with his family. In terms of training, Maxton still has much to discover. He does not yet know basic commands, but his cooperative, calm, and attentive temperament suggests he will make great progress with positive, gentle, and respectful training suited to his pace. Maxton is a particularly touching dog who only wants to leave his past behind.
